Seeing Beyond: Intuition and Presence in Photography
Location: Athens, Greece
Photography is more than making images, it’s a way of paying attention. This workshop invites participants to step away from expectation and technique-driven results, and instead discover how intuition and presence can guide the act of photographing.
We will begin with a review of participants’ existing work to better understand each personal approach. From there, daily exercises will encourage new ways of seeing: noticing what draws our attention, letting go of fixed ideas, and opening space for unplanned discoveries. Together, we will practice photography both individually and as a group in Athens, using the city as a living backdrop for exploration.
Critiques and conversations will be an integral part of the workshop. These sessions will help participants reflect on what is revealed through intuitive practice, and how photographs can carry meaning beyond what is visible on the surface.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have developed practical tools for working more intuitively, strategies for overcoming creative blocks, and a deeper confidence in their own way of seeing. The goal is not only to strengthen your photography, but also to cultivate presence and learning how to let a photograph bring you, and your viewer, fully into the moment.

Photobook Dummy: From Project to Object

This three-day workshop led by ADRIANNA AULT is an immersive introduction to the art and process of making a photobook dummy. Open to photographers at all levels, the workshop guides participants through the full arc of transforming a body of work into a tangible, held object: the first draft of a book.
Through guided editing and sequencing sessions, participants will work to find the heart of their project: its logic, its rhythm, its emotional arc. What does this body of work want to be? How does sequence create meaning? How does the viewer enter and leave the work?
Working with workprints, image files, and a blank notebook, participants will build a basic first draft dummy, learning how decisions about scale, pacing, and structure begin to transform a sequence of photographs into an object with presence and intention. The dummy is not a final product. It is a thinking tool, a proposal, a way of seeing your work that a screen cannot offer.
By the end of the three days, each participant will leave with a completed first draft dummy and a clearer sense of their project and its possibilities.

Finding the Thread: Developing a Photo Book Narrative

How do you transform a collection of disparate images into a cohesive visual story? This intensive workshop is designed for photographers looking to integrate bookmaking into their practice. Led by artist Adrianna Ault, participants will explore how specific visual choices can evoke broad human experiences, and ultimately bridge the gap between the personal and the universal.
Participants will bring workprints of an ongoing project to be edited and refined. Through a series of critiques and hands-on exercises, we will focus on narrative building and understanding how pairing and sequencing create meaning and cadence within a book. You will learn to identify the "thread" that connects your images, culminating in the creation of a physical book dummy.

This weeklong workshop introduces participants to the art of transforming a body of photographs into a compelling photobook. Through a combination of critiques, hands-on exercises, and bookmaking, students will learn how to shape a visual narrative that brings greater depth and meaning to their photographic work.
Participants should bring work prints and JPEG files from an ongoing photographic project. Throughout the week, a series of group critiques will help identify the strongest images and clarify the central themes of each body of work. Students will explore the principles of image selection, pairing, sequencing, rhythm, and pacing through guided exercises designed to strengthen visual storytelling.
Each participant will create a physical photobook dummy, gaining an understanding of book structure, editing, and the relationship between photographs on the page. By the end of the workshop, students will have a working book mock-up and a stronger foundation for developing and refining their own photobook projects.
The workshop is open to photographers of all experience levels—from professional photographers and dedicated enthusiasts to iPhone photographers who are interested in exploring the creative possibilities of the photobook as a unique artistic form.
